Allison Elvir
Senior Law Clerk
Bio
Allison is a proud first-generation immigrant from Honduras, where she earned her first law degree from Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC). After immigrating and rebuilding her life far from home, she was inspired by her older brother to continue pursuing her passion for law, with a focus on immigration and giving back to her community. Allison is a graduate of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where she earned her second law degree, a Master of Laws (LL.M.). Her admission to the Maryland Bar is currently pending.
During law school, she volunteered as an interpreter in immigration-related matters and participated in an immigration and asylum clinic that traveled to Tijuana, Mexico. This humbling experience allowed her to witness firsthand the challenges faced by individuals and families seeking safety and a better future, reaffirming her passion for immigration law.
As an immigrant herself, Allison understands that immigration is much more than a legal process. Behind every case is a person, a family, and a story of hope and sacrifice. Proud of her Honduran roots, she brings compassion and personal understanding to her work, striving to make every individual she assists feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their journey.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family. She considers her young adult daughter her best friend, and together they enjoy traveling, attending concerts, and sharing their love of coffee and wine. Her toddler son fills their home with laughter and keeps everyone entertained with his mischievous personality. She is especially grateful to her father, who relocated to the United States to help care for her son and support her dream of returning to law school. In her free time, Allison enjoys gardening and spending time with her beloved dog, Penny.
